Blog 4: Project Reflection and Working EQ

The Pentagon:
1.     Positive Statement: What positive thing happen as a result of what you have completed so far?

A positive outcome of what I have completed so far is that I have found that working with children makes me happy. Although it’s stressful and requires endless amounts of patience, the children’s experience is what is most important.

2.     EQ Content:  Pick a piece of research or your interview.  How has it helped you improve your understanding of your topic?

My interview has helped improve my understanding of my topic because the interviewee was very specific and precise in her answers, making the understanding part of the equation come easy. Talking to someone who has been in the field for some amount of time is the perfect place to get advice and guidance.

3.     What has worked for you so far in the senior project?
In reference to the senior project, finding research for my topic has been somewhat simple since it’s an up and coming topic. At first, I was apprehensive about the interview, but I found that it was really helpful.

4.     What hasn't worked so far?
I have been unable to find a mentor, which is obviously vital to the senior project. I have been working on finding one, but have yet to find one. That’s the only issue I’ve had with the senior project so far.

5.     Based on your experience so far,
·       What possible question or questions come to mind regarding what you would like to study this year (don't list questions about the instructions relating to the senior project)
·       What is your end goal this year with your senior project (don't say get a good grade or gain knowledge, put specific things you want to accomplish in your senior project this year.)
·       Who do you want to talk to next? Why?

Possible questions that have come up regarding what I would like to study is whether I want to focus on child psychology or child counseling.
My end goal for the senior project is after nine months of studying this topic, I want to be sure that this is what I want to pursue in life. And if this isn’t what’s meant for me, I want to know what is.
Like I’ve mentioned before, finding a mentor has been a challenge for me. I haven’t found my next interview yet, but my previous interviewee said a colleague in her office might be interested and I might interview her. I would like to interview her because her title is simply psychologist and I think she might have a little more insight on children.
