(1) Write a description of what you plan
on doing for your independent study component.
I have two options for my independent
component. I can either work extra hours at my mentorship, which would be
helpful in numerous ways and could be a good experience for my future endeavors
in the psychology field. Or I could work in my community’s homework club,
focusing on the children’s learning patterns and possibly figuring out if any
of the children have learning disorders.
(2) Describe in detail how you think your
plan will meet the 30 hours work requirement.
If I work extra mentorship hours, it
wouldn’t be very difficult to acquire the hours. I go there three times a week
and there’s always something for me to do. If I were to do the homework club
instead, it would be held once a week for about two hours. Extra time spent
researching learning disorders could help rack up my hours.
(3) How does your independent study
component relate to your working EQ?
My independent study component relates
to my working EQ by dealing with the issues in child psychology, such as
mood/learning disorders and suicide. If I chose the mentorship, suicide and
mood disorders would be the focus and I could be taught more about how to
handle these issues and how to prevent them from happening. If I do the
homework club, my EQ could have something to do with dealing with kids with
learning disorders and how to accommodate to their needs to the best of my
ability.
