Blog 19: Senior Project and ESLRs
1. What ESLR have you excelled in most in your senior project?
I have excelled most in being an effective i-Poly citizen through my senior project.
2. Please explain why you think you have excelled in this ESLR.
I have excelled in being an effective citizen because I am always willing to help others achieve their goals, whatever it is their goals may be. I am willing to give a lending hand around the classroom as far as cleaning goes. I take it into my own hands to learn the material we are given by putting in extra hours of tutoring and studying. I'm pretty punctual, at least, I make the effort to be punctual. I set an alarm when I have to leave my house in order to get to school on time. (It's that time of the year, you know.)
3. Provide evidence from your senior project to support your claim (evidence is a photo of something you are doing, photo of something you made, etc).
In this picture, I am preparing to make phone calls to parents on the referral forms. By calling these parents, I am helping families get needed help in order to make the community a better place.Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Senior Project Update
(1) What are you currently doing in your independent component?
I am currently done with independent component. I have completed 30 hours of mentorship.
(2) What is a recent piece of research (article, interview, or audio-visual) that have you reviewed you would say was significant in helping you understand where to go next in your senior project? The piece of research should be something you reviewed in November. Please explain what you learned and where are you going next because of this piece of research.
Interview #2 was significant in helping me out in where I want to go next in my senior project because my interviewee was thorough in her answers and informed me of what key issues are in children. I learned that children need more help than ever and there needs to be more readily available services for those children in need. Because of this, I have learned that suicide is a key issue in children and that my focus will be on suicidal youth.
(3) Provide evidence from your independent component or the piece of research as something you recently did. For example, a photo of something you working on for your independent component or your notes from the video you watched.

I am not going to revise my EQ at this time.
3) What are possible answers to your current
working EQ?
Possible answers to my EQ are determining what developmental
stage a child is in order to understand what kind of mindset the child is in,
building a relationship with the child in order for that child to feel
comfortable, and/or choosing the best method of practicing psychology on the
child i.e. talk therapy, play therapy, artistic therapy, etc.

Blog 2: Topic Choice
a. What is
your topic and why?
b. And
what do you hope to accomplish this year with this topic (connecting your
answer to each of the 4 ESLRs)
a)
My topic is child psychology because I have
a deep fascination with psychology, especially in children, and I would love to
further my knowledge in the subject because I think that there are a lot of
children in the world that need help and aren’t able to acquire that help
easily.
b)
iPoly Citizen: I plan to really take
matters into my own hands this year and be responsible for what I’m supposed to
be doing as far as the senior project because no one else is responsible for it
except me. This improves my being an iPoly citizen because I plan on promoting my
knowledge of understanding what I am supposed to be doing and what is going on
around me.
Effective communicator: Since I plan
on learning more about the psychology field, I will be introduced with new ways
to become an effective communicator through determining what different types of
personalities there are. If I am able to decipher what kind of people I’m working
with, I will be able to cooperate with them appropriately.
Effective learner: I already plan on
taking responsibility for the learning of my chosen topic this year and I hope
to further my knowledge in the child psychology field beyond my expectations. This
will make me an effective learner because I am truly interested in the topic
and it will help me be consistent in my thirst for knowledge in this topic.
Effective user of technology: Without
technology, being able to complete my senior project would be nearly impossible
and because I am fortunate enough to have technology readily available at my
fingertips, I will use my sources to the best of theirs and my ability. This
will lead to me being an effective user of technology because I hope to use my
resources for the importance of needing to get my senior project completed
efficiently instead of hanging out on Tumblr all evening.
